While thinking about the idea of an altruistic, fair public option for health insurance, I started trying to figure out why something like it doesn't already exist. (Or maybe it does?) The assumption seems to be that health insurance companies are causing problems through systematic greed, and the public option would help keep them honest. But, if this is the case, why isn't there an organization doing this already? Why don't the good, people, such as the ones that take less-pay than they could in other sectors to run major charitable organizations, start a good health insurance company that doesn't do any of the bad things that the other insurance companies do. If such an organization were to exist, it seems that everyone would switch to it, and even the most greedy of insurance companies would have to become like it in order to compete. There are obviously enough qualified and caring people out there to make such an organization happen without any government involvement. So why dont such organizations exist? I have a few ideas, but they dont explain the whole story. Maybe the fact that people dont usually shop around for health insurance because its chosen by their employers prevents new good insurance companies from gaining the market share required to make the bad ones change? Maybe health insurance companies are already as good as they can be, despite a few heartless employees, and the primary problems in health care come from somewhere else? Maybe protectionist legal policies prevent altruistic organizations from freely forming? Any thoughts?

Hi, Myself and a friend will be travelling to California next month to purchase a 1960s vw campervan. We will be driving it to the shipping port to export it back to the uk. I've been told we can get a temporary registration which lasts 28 days and will allow us to drive the van. I've been on the californian DMV website but cannot find any more information or the forms. no email address either! My younger brother who's only 20 years old has a host of serious illnesses: crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, and a few more conditions that has constantly kept him sick for a good portion of his childhood. With the health care system being the way that it is, is there any possibility that he could continue receiving health care despite his ineligibility? He takes a ton of drugs daily, and even takes some of the same medications that our grandparents take lol. I know some of you heartless conservatives believe he should provide his own health coverage, but how? His drugs cost thousands, and he's in the ER constantly, thus making his health-care only affordable to extremely rich individuals. When healthy, he does contribute as much as he possibly can, however for someone in his condition it would be downright shameful if he can't continue to receive any healthcare.

my neighbor has digned my door about 30 times, i have paint from his door all over my car as proof he also stuck gum on my car and put ketchup on it, have no proof for the gum unless i get his dna, i have it in a baggy, crazy i know, but he will not give me his insurance, he tried to fight me, i called the cops, he came at me i told him 3 times to stay back, he was about 200 pounds thought he would take me out, hit him one punch to the head, stunned him walked off called police, they almost arrested me, but didnt made me shake his damn hand since we are quote neghbors, the first thing he said when i asked for his insurance was he iddnt do it and his car is nicer why would he, i drive a 2002 bmw 330ci a 45k dollar car he has a 2003 maybe lexus gs420 i think? it made no difference whos is nicer and that my inspection is out, i still hit him cuz he threatened to hit me and backed me up, how can i get his insurance info with his license plate, any inspector will do a pain analyst and see that the damage is on him, and if they ask for a swab of his cheek, it will match the gum that was stuck to my car paint, btw this guy didnt know me before this, he decides to park right in front of his house by my car which isvery close to the line on this side, rahter than park one spot over, i guess he thought since i was not driving the car and it was sitting for 2 weeks that he could damage it for inconveniencing him.... anyway how can i get his insurance besides demanding it or requesting it from cops?? can i call an insurance company and give them the licsense, i do not have insurance right now im broke which is why i need this fixed by him.

The next lowest I found was $145/month with Progressive. With AIA, I can get full coverage for $222 down and $190 a month. I haven't had an accident since 2008, and I'm confident about my driving skills, but I don't want to screw myself over. I don't have $3400, or even $2200, to buy a new car if something happened to this one. However, my car is 9 years old, so I don't know if it's even worth it. What should I do?
